There has been buzz about it lately . It’s begin when AmateurPhotographer UK interviewed the Canon’s Head of Consumer Imaging Europe , Rainer Fuehres . It goes something like this
“Canon doesn’t need to introduce a mirrorless compact system camera (CSC), according to the head of consumer imaging in Europe, as the company does not have a problem selling its existing compact and DSLR products.”
but Canon is not ruling out the possibility of creating similar product
The idea of the compact system camera is nothing to do with whether the camera has a mirror or not, but about creating a small and more portable system. If Canon does take part I hope we won’t introduce just a me-too product, but we’ll use the opportunity to do something different
Unlike Nikon who soon announce a ‘PRO’ mirrorless camera , Canon will probably not develop any. Or maybe they’ll develop new product similar to mirrorless camera but with a twist ? time will tell ..
more, CanonRumors has a good reason on why Canon should still develop a mirrorless camera ( link )
According to mirrorlessrumors.com very trusted source , Nikon will likely announce their new mirrorless camera in April 2011. The camera is an advanced mirrorless camera ! meaning it is designed for advanced photographers , not for entry-level segment. Nikon already has Nikon D3100 DSLR for entry-level segment and probably wont replace it with something new/better. FYI, Nikon D3100 is already at number #2 of top DSLR bestseller at Amazon.
Personally , i think this is the right time for Nikon to release the camera , some camera that can fill the gap between entry-level ( eg: Sony NEX ) and high-end mirrorless camera ( eg: Leica M9 ). A camera that gives the Leica M9′ quality but with more affordable price. If that happen, the camera will definitely enter my buying list :)
DSLRMagazine sparks new rumor on Nikon mirrorless technology. They claimed to have received from a reliable source that the new Nikon mirrorless system will be more profesional than others. More profesional ? what say you ? could it be that the new system will provide support for current Nikon lenses .. perhaps using a special adapter ?
According to earlier rumors , Nikon will announce the new mirrorless system in March 2011 . We will see what’s going to happen ! stay tuned
